How to Safely Inspect Your Roof Before Calling a Roofer

Do you suspect your roof is leaking or otherwise unsafe?  Now is the time to check it out. It’s always a good idea to call on the services of a local roofing renovator. However, there are a few things you can do just before you call such a service. These are the safest ways to make sure that a problem does indeed exist.

Get Up on the Roof and Check

If you are able to get up on the roof to check it firsthand, this is highly recommended. Of course, if this is not possible, you can check your attic instead. If neither of these actions is feasible, you should move straight to calling a local roofing service to handle the problem on your behalf.

Should you be able to get up on the roof, this is the place to look for cracked, broken, or missing tiles. You may also see a lot of algae, moss, or piles of dead or rotting leaves. You may notice that your gutter drains are clogged up. All of this can be taken as evidence that a problem does exist on your roof.

Make Sure Your Attic Is Clean

One of the first places you can check to make sure your roof is safe is in your attic. This is because, if any problems exist with your roof, they will manifest first in this area. Check for cracked or broken tiles lying on the attic floor. Also check for any evidence of wind or rain blowing in from a hole in the roof. If you see any nasty water stains or other evidence of a leak, make sure to call a local roof renovation service to handle the issue.
